Order
Old prints can be ordered in OPAC HEIDI.
Manuscripts, incunabula, charters and sheets from the Graphics Collection must be ordered one working day before the intended use at the information desk of the manuscript reading room (LSH), by telephone or by e-mail. Orders from personal collections must be placed at least three days before use.
When ordering manuscripts, incunabula and valuable later prints, the purpose of use must be stated and, if necessary, proven.
Use
The holdings of the Special Collections Department are not available for loan and can only be viewed in the manuscript reading room (LSH), provided that there are no conservation concerns that prevent their use.
Where substitute media, such as facsimile editions or digitised versions, are available, the originals will not normally be provided.
The materials will be handed over at the information desk of the manuscript reading room (LSH) upon presentation of a valid user card; for external visitors, upon depositing an ID card.
The user is obliged to report any damage found in the issued works to the supervisor immediately. Use only pencil for your notes and excerpts.
All items in the Special Collections Department are excluded from self-copying. However, it is possible to have reproductions made at a charge.
You can order reproductions at the information desk of the manuscript reading room (LSH) or at the Digitisation Centre. The corresponding form can be requested there or downloaded here (PDF document).
When publishing works in which reproductions of original documents held at the University Library of Heidelberg are to be used, a corresponding declaration of commitment must be completed. We can only process your order once we have received the completed and signed declaration of commitment.
