Use of the Heidelberg University Library from 10 pm
Until 10 pm you will receive the usual service from student assistants at the counters in all reading and information areas. From 10 pm, the security service takes over supervision of the building. At this time, the service hours of the student assistants end. The Information Centre (IZA) and the Multimedia Centre (MMZ) will be closed. Please leave the areas as usual 10 minutes before closing time. The building and in particular the reading room will remain open for you until 1am.
The service hours of the student assistants end at 10 pm. The security service supervises the building and controls the entrance and exit to the reading room. The counter in the reading room is closed. No further services are provided. In concrete terms, this means:
- No media will be issued or returned after 10 pm. It is not possible to borrow magazines. Media can only be returned to the security desk at the reading room barrier without being booked back in and without confirmation of return.
- Media booked for the reading room that are issued at the reading room counter must be returned before 10 pm. If items are returned later, the user card or deposit will not be issued until the following day by the reading room staff.
- No bibliographical information or information about the library will be provided after 10 pm. After 10 pm no assistance is provided for questions or problems with printers, photocopiers, scanners or computers etc.; no troubleshooting is carried out. In such cases, please contact the regular staff on day duty.
- The keys to the rented carrels will only be taken back by the security service at the lock after 10 pm. Keys will not be issued after 10 pm.
- Laptops and iPads borrowed from the reading room counter must be returned by 9.45 pm at the latest. They will not be issued after 9.45 pm.
The Old Town Main Library closes at 1 am. The period of use ends 10 minutes before the end of opening hours. All workstations, photocopiers and scanners must be vacated 10 minutes before the library building closes.
