Alternatives to interlibrary loan

In addition to conventional interlibrary loan, it is also possible to order articles from journals and books or even order books for loan via electronic document delivery services. In this case, the order is not processed by Heidelberg University Library, but you register personally with the relevant document delivery service. With this service, the documents are delivered directly to your home within shorter delivery times for an increased fee. 

Please note that compared to interlibrary loan, it may sometimes be cheaper and faster to purchase the title in the national/international book trade.

An alternative to interlibrary loan can also be an acquisition request to Heidelberg University Library. In this case, you inform the university library of your media wishes via an online form. The responsible subject librarian will check whether the title can be acquired for the library's collection. If you wish to do so and make a note in the online form, the title will be reserved for you in the event of an acquisition.
