Printed Material published in the 18th Century in the German-Speaking Areas (VD 18)
From 2014 to 2021, Heidelberg University Library participated in three phases in the DFG-funded project "Digitisation and Indexing of Printed Material from Heidelberg University Library published in the 18th Century in the German-Speaking Areas (VD 18)" to digitise 18th century prints published in the German-speaking area, a Germany-wide effort.
The cataloguing and digitisation of more than 5,500 monographs and around 200 journal titles published in the German-speaking world in the holdings of Heidelberg University Library was carried out at a national bibliographic level. The monographs were catalogued in the library's own network (K10Plus), while the journal titles were catalogued via the Zeitschriftendankenbank (ZDB) and the Electronic Journals Library (EZB).
All metadata and images are publicly accessible without restriction (Open Access) and, in addition to being made available in the library networks, the VD18 portal or the German Digital Library, are also made accessible internationally via the OAI network and via EUROPEANA.
Even after the project funding has ended, more 18th century prints published in the German language area will be continuously digitised and put online here.
