You are warmly invited to join the online-presentation Predatory publishers and identity fraud - how to identify dubious providers on January 27th 15:00-16:30.
Speakers are Zuza Wiorogorska from the University of Warsaw (Polen) and Georg Schwesinger from the University Library Heidelberg.
In their presentation, Zuza and Georg will talk first about the phenomenon of predatory publishers; they will present the characteristics of the dishonest and often illegal business model and show some schemes of recognizing and avoiding publishing at predators. Then, they will discuss a new emerging challenge for scholarly publishing that is the identity fraud of scientific journals: hijacked journals. Those two phenomena might endanger the integrity of scholarly communication by violating the reliability of scholarly publications and hence, deform the image of science and influence badly research careers.
