Apart from the Heidelberg copies there are similar collections in Great Britain, i.e. in the Cambridge University Library, the British Library, the Victoria & Albert Museum in London and the Bodleian Library in Oxford. Furthermore, two related collections are known in the US; one in LSU Libraries in Baton Rouge (Louisiana), and another in the Minneapolis Central Library (Minnesota). The first volume contains caricatures from the time before the Franco-Prussian War which deal mainly with members of the imperial dynasty and with politicians. The second volume is concerned with the declaration of war, the beginning of the war and the siege of Paris. Volume 3 deals with Paris under German occupation as well as public figures in contemporary politics and culture. Volume 4 is dedicated to figures and events of the Paris Commune and to the political situation after the fall of the Second Empire. The images of the fifth volume illustrate the conquest of Paris and characters of the Paris Commune. In the sixth volume life in Paris during the siege and the Paris Commune as well as the consequences of the war are portrayed. Volume 7 covers life in Paris after the war and includes European caricatures depicting the Franco-Prussian War (1870-71). The eighth volume comprises German and English British caricatures on the Franco-Prussian War. Volume 9 contains a series of pornographic caricatures and, therefore, was sealed with a lock.
